GABRIELLE'S STORY
What does freedom mean to you?
Feeling a lack of constraint from societal standards
Why did you pursue the Women in Freedom Photoshoot?
Kelsey and her mission inspired me to be more open with what I see as my own flaws
Share a bit about your personal story and where you are today. In what ways have you stepped into your freedom recently?
After being conditioned for years to believe I had to live a standard life in a certain order, I was really in the last year able to step into my own and realize that my journey is not required to be cookie cutter. I built a van and decided to solo travel in it full time for a year and it changed my life and boosted my confidence, helping me find myself after a true lack of confidence due to my physical appearance and scars caused by breast and skin cancer.
How has this experience shaped the way you see yourself?
The beauty in these photographs remind me that scars are stories and uniqueness is beauty.
How has this life of freedom had a positive impact on you?
I feel more confident I feel beautiful even in the changes my body endured I feel unstoppable and strong which is a lot coming from a male dominated society that relies on keeping us weak and makes us feel our beauty is what our value is.
What was the most meaningful aspect of this photoshoot to you?
Just the message Kelsey has to share is why it was so special.
How do you plan to hold onto this feeling of unique freedom?
Continuing to follow my true compass and follow my heart and not society standards
Anything else you'd like to share?
Creativity is subjective and we are all works of art.
