What does freedom mean to you?
The ability to be myself.
Why did you pursue the Women in Freedom Photoshoot?
I have a vision of myself inside my head that I wanted to be able to see come to life in an artistic and beautiful way. I don’t consider myself to be beautiful externally and yet my soul is, I wanted that to show.
Share a bit about your personal story and where you are today. In what ways have you stepped into your freedom recently?
I recently went through a very difficult divorce, where I had spent almost 20 years not being able to speak my mind or to grow as an adult in any way. I moved all around the world and changed jobs many times to support my ex-husband’s career. Now I am able to be who I want to be, have the freedom to be employed in a job that I am good at and to be able to have laughter and fun in my life again. There is a beauty in the struggle.
How has this experience shaped the way you see yourself?
I was able to watch myself grow, to appreciate the way my body moves and to actually see that I could be beautiful and not just strong.
How has this life of freedom had a positive impact on you?
I smile a lot more, I speak to myself differently and I love being able to show the world who I am.
What was the most meaningful aspect of this photoshoot to you?
The instant friendship with Kelsey and her ability to make me comfortable in my own skin! Her talent is incredible both behind the lens and in front of it.
How do you plan to hold onto this feeling of unique freedom?
By sharing more of the real me with the world and continuing to grow as a person.
Anything else you'd like to share?
I am just beyond thankful that I had this experience with Kelsey. The entire day was meaningful and tailored towards blending my vision with her talents and it was incredible!
