HALYNA'S STORY
What does freedom mean to you?
Freedom means responsibility. Freedom is something beyond stereotypes or templates, it’s a strong opportunity to express yourself in any possible way.
Why did you pursue the Women in Freedom Photoshoot?
Express myself through pictures. Especially through your eyes, or face expression, something that I proved to myself I can do it without being professional model.
Share a bit about your personal story and where you are today. In what ways have you stepped into your freedom recently?
I’m from Ukraine, here in USA for 20 years.
I was a mom of three beautiful girls, house wife for a long time. My first step into freedom was to go to nursing school, started working, pulled myself down the tunnel, fight to get out from toxic environment and became who I am now.
How has this life of freedom had a positive impact on you?
I realize that your dreams and what your heart desire don’t have borders. I think I’m more confident and more positive in myself.
This experience shaped how I approach life. I’m more happier and fulfilled. Life can only be understood backwards but it must be lived forwards.
What was the most meaningful aspect of this photoshoot to you?
Various ways to express yourself, through the camera.
How do you plan to hold onto this feeling of unique freedom?
To be courage to do what you really like, to have wide open spaces in front of me, to live out side of cage - and it’s real emotional learning that I have to commit to if I want to have this unique freedom.
Anything else you'd like to share?
Don’t afraid to try something new. It always will give you experience that you can learn to. Always take chances, allow yourself making mistakes and learning from it. Thank you Kelsey for beautiful and unforgettable experience! I hope we will work together in a future!
